I currently have $5,500 in my Neteller account. I had my lawyer write them a letter in hopes that might have some effect.

Bottom line, are there any options right now? Is there anyway at all to get my money?

At the moment, it seems all we can do is wait. If you would, let us us know the response you get from Neteller.

I sure will. My lawyer will send the letter out on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week

I know that we've never found much indication that such a thing exists, but are they still allowing transactions to non-gaming merchants?

For US customers, apparently not. They are, essentially, preventing you guys from finding a way to move your money to a gambling site.

They are flat out lying to us right now. There are no legitimate non-gambling merchants who offer tangible goods, only useless services that won't retain any dollar value. With no p2p, all avenues are closed and like what already is said we just have to wait but the writing is on the wall. They want to appear legit and not fit the mold of the DOJ accusations so they are not going to find some unique and newly discovered way to secretly get us our money. No processor will work as an intermediary between the US and Neteller so the truth is they are not looking for a way to get us our money. It's like we are all part of a sinking ship and Neteller is on the edge ready to jump before us while we are supposed to be waiting patiently twidling our thumbs. Our money is on the f'king ship. I don't think they are looking for ways to get us our money. I believe they are trying to make as much money with it as they can before they are forced to give it back to us. When I spoke with my attorney, he agreed with me.

I think you'll see your money in a few years.

I do not think the DOJ wants to steal it. They did not want to steal your money from BOS. In fact the restraining order said BOS must return the money.

I have a feeling the Feds picked off some money and now Neteller is doing the prudent thing and not sending more. The Feds probably want the bargaining power of showing they can pick off EFTs and will use it to stop NT from operating in the US without a formal indiction - sort of like with paypal... Without showing they can stop transfers, NT really could have decided to keep operating.

Eventually, they will probably get a court order to return US funds.

I do not think the DOJ has the balls to indict a UK banking group, but I do think the DOJ will work out an agreement with Neteller not to do anymore biz with the US and once that agreement is worked out it will probably contain a clause permitting/requiring they return peoples' money. Look for this in the next few months if we're lucky...

The BOS founders dont seem to mind hiding and traveling with armed bodyguards. The guys on the neteller board are not like that... I dont think they want to watch their backs the next 30 years.

I tried pleading with the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading. Can't think of any other way. It might be worth a shot. Anyone else care to try? The email address is iomfairtrading@gov.im. No response yet.

If you are talking a lot of money, you can go to Ontario, get a drivers license (Seems easy to do), get an address and a utility (Phone) and ask Neteller to change your country. They have said they will do this with the above.

I figure you are looking at:

$400 plane
$500 to rent a real place for a week or month
$100 utility
$100 license.

Total $1000-1200.

If Neteller had more than $5k of mine, I'd be on my way.

Sean, has anyone tried that yet? All it would take is a handfull of Americans to do that, and they'd shut off that option too, IMO. It's pretty obvious they don't want to release American accounts under any circumstances at the moment.

You can't just come up here and get a driver's license.

Additionally, you will need to open a second NETeller account and peer to peer the money, which you can't do anymore. (My contact there tells me you cannot just change the address in your current account.) And you can't do that anymore precisely because of Americans crossing the border opening up false accounts.

I supose you yanks are in luck because you can do that in Costa Rica ;)

however lets face the facts, you can claim to be from China......they (Neteller) now are decided to keep your $ with them until the dust settles (and this like any other legal nightmare may take quite sometime to settle)

so far here's what I've gotten form the isle of man

Thank you for your e-mail in relation to Neteller.

We are informed by Neteller that it is in continuing discussions with the US authorities

Neteller have advised us that it is their top priority to return funds to its US members and to achieve this they are working with the US authorities to determine a mechanism to do so

We are also advised by Neteller that unfortunately until such time as this has been achieved Netellers US members will continue to experience delays

perfect time for an American Citizen to

A) open an account in the Isle of Man (laborious task but feasible)
b) contact those same guys and demand a deposit to a bank account located in the Isle of Man

and make sure you open the account either in Sterling or in Euros to avoid even more excuses!

Thank you. Now I hope some of our posters will stop suggesting that, please. Stop.
